National Programs

Zeta Tau Zeta delivers groundbreaking programs developed by our National Headquarters. Our widely known initiative is ZHOPE (Zetas Helping Other People to Excel through Mind, Body and Spirit). This program was developed by our 22nd Grand President, Barbara C. Moore. ZHOPE raises awareness of issues plaguing our communities and encourages its participants to seek self-preservation. ZHOPE has customized topics to fit any age and gender: men, women, children and the elderly.

Knowledge is power and Zeta holds scholarship in high regards. The National Educational Foundation (NEF) is a catalyst within Zeta to promote continuing education. The NEF provides scholarships to well- deserving members and students to help them achieve their educational goals.

In 1970 under International President Isabel M. Herson, Zeta partnered with the March of Dimes to educate young mothers on the importance of regular doctor’s visits and nutrition while awaiting the birth of their little ones. Upon the completion of the Stork’s Nest program, the mothers are given a baby shower and items to assist with the homecoming of their baby. This program has proven to reduce the number of premature births and continues to be one of Zeta’s signature programs.

In 2010, our 23rd Grand President, Sheryl P. Underwood implemented Health Justice Program by saying “we will continue” to explain the health care initiative. Not willing to sit by and let many suffer from inadequate healthcare, Zeta Phi Beta has joined the fight with President Barack Obama in hosting Healthcare Reform Town Hall meetings. Zeta felt it was necessary to participate in this initiative, due to the large amounts of negative press and confusion surrounding the reform. With increasing health care costs and insurance companies denying its members vital healthcare, it is evidenced that non-insured patients contribute to the national deficit derived from emergency room visits. Equipped with medical and legal professionals, Zeta works to drive home the importance of acquit healthcare to the masses.
